MP asks for support for local charity funding bid

Michael Dugher, MP for Barnsley East, is encouraging support for local charity FareShare Yorkshire as it seeks to win funding and continue its work in the community.

The Wombwell-based charity helps support the voluntary sector by re-distributing surplus food to over 300 community groups across Yorkshire. These groups then go on to help provide over 1.5 million meals.

FareShare Yorkshire also provides work experience by giving volunteering work opportunities to local people.

More than just the experience, the charity’s partnership with Barnsley College means volunteers are provided with accredited training, qualifications and mentoring.

In the last 12 months, the charity has helped 23 individuals move on to secure full-time employment.

And now FareShare Yorkshire are seeking support to secure funding in the Big Lottery’s People’s Projects competiton, and could be in line for £48,300 to help them continue their work.

The competition deadline is Monday 3rd of April, and Mr Dugher is encouraging everyone to vote for the local charity, which can be done here: http://ift.tt/2nfc0Ov

Commenting, Mr Dugher said:

“FareShare Yorkshire does fantastic work supplying essential food deliveries and providing opportunities for work experience.

“They have already helped a number of local people into full-time work, and this funding will allow them to continue providing training and opportunities to the local community.

“I encourage everyone to back this Wombwell-based charity, and vote for them to receive this fantastic prize”.
