FareShare ‘Healthy Holidays’ campaign makes a huge difference says Barnsley MP

Stephanie Peacock, Member of Parliament for Barnsley East, recently held a meeting with the FareShare charity to discuss their work with Barnsley Council on the ‘Healthy Holidays’ campaign.

This campaign was launched after funding of £280,000 was granted to Feeding Britain by the Department for Education, with £30,000 provided for Barnsley.

Working with local community groups and organisations, this campaign has provided activities for local schoolchildren throughout the summer holidays, including crafts, reading, and trips to the seaside.

Said Stephanie: “It was great to meet with FareShare to discuss their ‘Healthy Holidays’ campaign. As a former teacher, I know how important it is for young people to remain active, healthy and happy throughout the summer holiday.

“That’s why I’m so pleased to see FareShare and Barnsley Council taking such a proactive approach to providing this brilliant programme to fill the six weeks holiday.

“From my discussion with FareShare, it’s clear that this campaign has made a huge difference, with demand significantly more than expected, and I’ll be pushing the Government to provide further funding for important projects like this here in Barnsley.’
