Defeats for both Portsmouth and Sunderland tonight means that Barnsley have been promoted back to the Championship at the first attempt.
They are level on points with Luton Town, who are also promoted; four points clear of Portsmouth and six ahead of Sunderland with only one game to play.
The final fixtures on Saturday will decide whether it is the Reds or Luton who go up as champions. The Oakwell team travel to meet Bristol Rovers, while Luton entertain Oxford United.
