Hospice given a boost by TSB Barnsley

Patient care at Barnsley Hospice has been given a boost thanks to an £800 donation from TSB Barnsley.

The bank, based on Market Hill in the town centre, has been raising money through raffles, collection tins and personal challenges after selecting the hospice as its charity of the year. Last week it handed over a cheque for £812.

Simon Atkinson, corporate fund-raiser at Barnsley Hospice, said: “We’re extremely grateful to everyone at TSB Barnsley for helping raise such a brilliant amount of money. This is a great example of the outstanding support we receive from the Barnsley business community.”

Lynn Stephenson, manager of the Barnsley TSB branch, said: “Our Local Charity Partnership programme is all about working in partnership to help support the local causes that are the lifeblood of many communities across Britain.

“We’ve really enjoyed supporting Barnsley Hospice as our Local Charity Partner and we’d like to thank our customers for their generosity.”

Donations from the Barnsley business community help the hospice raise the £2.2m it needs each year to care for patients and their families. A further £1.6m is provided by the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
