New junior account executive for Capital B Media

Chris Coates has joined South Yorkshire media training and PR consultancy Capital B Media as a junior account executive.

Chris, aged 22, has joined after completing BA and Masters degrees in journalism at the University of Sheffield.

Capital B Media’s clients are in the public, private and third sector. They include Barnsley Museums and Heritage Trust, Anxiety UK, Magna Science Adventure Centre, Enterprising Barnsley and Pulmonary Hypertension Association UK.

Capital B Media, which was set up by former BBC journalist Kate Betts in 2006, is based at Bullhouse Mill, near Penistone. The firm won the Business Growth Award at the Barnsley and Rotherham Chamber of Commerce Business Awards last year and has been shortlisted in three categories for the Chartered Institute of Public Relations PRide Awards this year.

During his time at university, Chris achieved 100wpm shorthand, developed his writing skills, produced content for TV and radio, and was a member of a group that established two new magazine brands.

Chris, who lives in Sheffield, said: “After four years at university I’m delighted to be joining a growing company where I can put the skills I’ve developed into practice.

“Being able to work with a great team in such a stunning location makes this the ideal first step for me into the industry.”

Capital B Media director, Kate Betts, said: “It’s brilliant to have Chris on board. He’s learned key skills in all aspects of journalism during his time at university, so having such a well-rounded member of the team will bring benefits for our PR clients.”
